Why Trade?
What is Trade or Barter?
"Barter," commonly referred to as "trade," is the oldest and simplest way of doing business on the planet. TradeAway provides the means for a business/person to acquire goods or services through a medium where cash is not a requirement for a transaction to take place. Since the beginning of civilization, mankind has bartered and traded goods and services for those skills or items owned by another. Trading has become big business as foreign countries trade resources and multi-million dollar companies liquidate their surplus stock by trading for warehouse space or cargo holds on freightliners. Now, items such as raw land and luxury condominiums can quickly trade hands through the patent pending innovations of TradeAway, where the age old concept of barter and the world's information super highway (the Internet) have merged! TradeAway brings people together to trade in a way that is simple, non-intimidating, convenient, comfortable, inexpensive, and effective.
What if I Don't Have Anything to Trade?
Everyone has something to trade. For every item or service that someone would pay cash for, there are 100 people that would barter for it! There are large-scale trades and small trades. Collectors trade similar items, and individuals trade opposites. Physical items alone are not the only "trade worthy" things out there. You can offer a service/talent. What you think is a common "thing you do" may be a genuine blessing for another! You can use your talent like money! The world of barter is made up of positive people waiting for creative offers. From crafts to excess business inventory, everyone has something to trade. Make an offer today, and see what happens.
Why Should I Trade Instead of Selling My Item for Cash?

It saves you time

  • You get more value for your product or service
  • It will bring you more buyers for your product or service
  • You might even save a tax liability (talk with your accountant)

For every person that has $1,000 in cash, how many others are there that don’t have $1,000 available but do have $1,000 worth of something with which to trade or barter? There are many more buyers if they can use something other than cash to buy with. TradeAway, through its TradeMail, has also given people a way to communicate and ask questions about other traders without divulging personal information until they’re comfortable and ready to make a deal.

How Can Trading Save Me Money?
Businesses that sell goods/services, for example, can trade at full retail prices. This means that you are spending your widgets or service at retail prices even though it may only cost you a fraction of that to create it! For example, you are a service provider, such as a radio station, and have 30 percent excess advertising time that is not being sold. Now consider that a car dealer "that has never done business with you before" sees your ad for barter on TradeAway. He offers you a new $15,000 car for equal value in advertising. What is the actual cost for the car? Some will say $15,000 but others will say the cost was "only the cost of producing the ad" because the airtime would have gone vacant and been worth nothing once the time passes by! Bottom line is that if your actual production costs are only 10%, you may have just bought yourself a $15,000 car for $1,500. Businesses can now prosper from excess inventories, spare capacities and gaps in the appointment books. Individuals can offer items/talents/services on the same spectrum as businesses. From large corporations to the family needing a new car, trading is a great way to save money. Bringing people together is what TradeAway does.
What's in the Future for Barter?

Trade knows no boundaries. Thousands of business owners and individuals trade their goods and services daily, and the number of people bartering continues to grow. People are going back to the basics, wanting to simplify their lives, and getting out of the clutches of credit, cash, and other financial concerns of today’s economy.

The Internet has changed many lives, and will continue to do so with new, innovative ways of bringing people together. We know that TradeAway will help shape the future of commerce in the United States and eventually worldwide. The best deals are simply a click away at TradeAway.

Guidelines for Trading...

TradeAway is made up of creative people like you who are waiting for creative offers. You can barter for about anything if you try hard enough! Just ASK and you may be surprised!

When you are trading, listing items, and making offers, please remember these important tips when using TradeAway (or any other medium) which does not allow face-to-face transactions, and long distances are involved:

1. Always feel comfortable in the transaction or do not do it! Keep the old saying in mind "If it looks too good to be true, it usually is!"

2. Do not list goods or services unless you are the owner or controlling party of that asset.

3. Appraisals are only somebody's opinion of value and not worth very much if a willing buyer can't be found at that price. Many assets such as antiques, art, gems, jewelry, vintage cars, etc. can have high appraised retail values, but virtually no liquidity value compared to the appraisal or stated value.

4. Don't be afraid to ask for references when dealing with another party. Perhaps call somebody in the area that can tell you if the person/business is reputable.

5. Use an intermediary or bank to escrow papers/titles or funds on large transactions to make sure a closing consummates to your satisfaction.

6. If you don't know what something is worth, there are many places in your phone book or the Internet that can help you arrive at a value. Also, look at other auction sites on the Internet to see what things are selling for. Call around and be informed.

7. When listing an item, be fair and honest in your evaluation. Many collectors are very particular about nicks, scratches or tears in a book, for example. In other words, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!"

8. Be realistic and do not ask for the impossible. Put a value on your product or service that is realistic and can be verified.
