Trade Mail is an internal e-mail system designed by TradeAway to help keep your e-mail address private. Trade Mail is also used to communicate with other users while working out the details of sales and trades.
Trade Mail comes in handy if you are traveling and have access to the Internet, but not your e-mail program. Simply go to Trade Mail and correspond without missing a beat!
There are 3 ways to access Trade Mail:
1. From any item's listing page (the page that shows an item's picture, description, etc.) Click the username.
2. If you receive a Trade Mail, TradeAway will notify you via e-mail with a link to your Trade Mailbox.
3. From the top menu "Trade Mail"
Open your Trade Mailbox by using any of the steps listed above. Enter your password (if you haven't already done so previously in your visit to TradeAway).
Click the "Send a New Message" button at the top of the page. This will open a blank Trade Mail sheet for you to type your message.
Enter the username of the person you wish to Trade Mail. Remember that usernames are case sensitive, so be sure to capitalize the necessary characters.
Type in a brief subject of your Trade Mail, and in the space provided below that, type your message.
Press "Send." Your Trade Mail is sent immediately, and the recipient will be notified that they've got Trade Mail.
If you have new messages, TradeAway will notify you via e-mail. Click on the link in your e-mail to go to your Trade Mailbox.
Once you have entered your username and password (if you haven't already done so previously in your visit to TradeAway), your mailbox will appear and your unread messages will have a "New" icon beside them. Click on the subject line of the message to read it.
Simply press "Reply" and then type your reply above the message you just read. Press "Send" when you are finished.
Press "Delete." The message will be deleted immediately. Once you delete a Trade Mail, there is no way to retrieve it. Be sure to print out any correspondence you wish to keep before deleting!
Use your Internet browser (for example, Internet Explorer, Firefox, AOL, etc.) to print Trade Mail. Each browser is different, but most have a "File" button to click and from there click "Print." The current page will print, so be sure the message you wish to print is displayed.
Important: Trade Mail is used for working out offer details. For example, let's say an offer states in the conditions that the other party would like you to pay shipping costs. If you think it is more fair to split shipping, you can reply to the offer via Trade Mail, and state, "I'll pay half of shipping." If the offering party agrees, they will need to update their offer to state that you each pay half. Then you may accept the offer once the conditions are agreeable, and specified correctly in the conditions and stipulations box in the offer.
