Getting StartedWelcome to TradeAway, a new method to barter or sell your merchandise, services, talents, real estate, and other assets. Barter is not new, but certainly is enhanced by TradeAway's unique website. Whether you are a veteran trader or a beginner, it's important to understand how our site works. In an effort to help, these guidelines are here to minimize frustrations so you can get the most out of TradeAway. The "help" tab on the home page will help answer all your questions.
Contact Us TradeAway is a brand new site, and with any new site, there will be "bugs" that need to be worked out. Please inform us if you discover a problem with the site. If you would like to ask a question, each page has a questions/comments link. TradeAway has a staff waiting to assist you.
Charges It is FREE to list an item valued at $499 or less on TradeAway. On items over $500 in value, there will be at the time of a sale/trade an advertising fee of 1%, but only IF the sale/trade was made as a result of your posted ad on TradeAway. Featured items are promoted on the home page as well as the categories you choose, and have an extra charge of $20. Charges also apply for choosing over 3 additional categories. (See Listing an Item.) Your item, talent, service, or wanted advertising will stay on TradeAway until you accept an offer or delete your listing.
Go Look in Your Garage, Backyard, or Basement! You may be surprised to find how much trade power or potential cash you really do have! There are no limits to an item's value on TradeAway. If you are unsure of the value, list it to see what offers you get! Pornographic, fraudulent, and illegal items will not be allowed on TradeAway. Otherwise, don't prejudge your items, services, or talents!
FREE Registration! You can register from any page at the bottom, or from the home page at the List an Item notepad symbol. This will ask you for basic information only, and your information will not be disclosed to mailing lists, etc. When registering, you choose a username that will be your TradeAway identity, and a password that only you will know. For your security, usernames need to be at least 4 characters, and passwords need to be at least 5. Both usernames and passwords are limited to a maximum length of 12 characters. When done filling out the information, make sure you agree to the User Agreement, and click "continue" to return to the page where you were.
